Gentry Morris

A Brief Bio:
Gentry Morris, 22, is as tenacious as he is talented. He first started playing guitar in high school and in the span of four years formed and fronted folk-rock group Oliver, toured throughout several states, and recorded two full length albums. After graduation Morris relocated to Tennessee to for college but decided against it and last year released his critically acclaimed debut album “Daydreams.“ the sexy Gentry Morris

Recurring themes:
“My music is about how life is sweet and sour,” says Morris. “and even though things can go bad they have an upside because when things are good you can really appreciate them.”

Most likely to be compared to:
“I get John Mayer a lot.” says Morris. “I guess it’s because we both play guitar and sing but honestly he is a better guitar than I am.”

Unabashedly Pop:
Unlike most musicians today Morris is interested in signing with a major label. “Independent labels are great for the artists,” says Morris. “But indie music isn’t hook happy. My music is very hook happy.”

Studio Plans:
Morris is currently writing songs and hopes to release the album sometime next year.

A reluctant guest star:
Josh Touchton, the drummer from Tampa’s own Rebekah Pulley and the Reluctant Prophets, provided drums on “Daydreams”.

Song he hates to love:
Anything from Justin Timberlake’s debut Justified. “In terms of the production it’s our generation’s ‘Thriller’,” says Morris. “but it’s still something my friends would beat me up for.”

Song he wished he wrote:
“Mustang Sally”

Pet Peeves:
Bad drivers, picky fast food orders and stupidity. “I hate stupid people,“ admits Morris. “Although that sounds mean to call them stupid people. Let’s call them ignorant.”

Name a hero:
“My grandfather,” says Morris. “He died last year, but he was a great guy.

Name a hottie:
Audrey “that girl who is in ’My Fair Lady’ Hepburn.
